Most reboots/revivals have been disappointing, and while it’s easy enough not to watch, it does effect the legacy.GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, today announced that for the first time ever, the nominees for the 29 th Annual GLAAD Media Awards will be announced via livestream from Park City, Utah at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival on Friday, January 19 at 10:30am ET. Just really hope if it’s done it’s done right. Would just hate if it was like so many other reboots where it’s just a lot of new characters, an abundance of throwbacks to the original so they don’t really have to come up with anything new, retcons, and being selective on what they bring up from the original based on what was most popular then (like for real, EVERYONE talks about RDJ… he wasn’t even in one full season out of five). Calista’s amazing, and when the show was good, it was *really* good. Not expecting we could get everyone back, but I think Cage, Fish and at least one other woman from the original for Ally to have a familiar friend (as I’m sure there will also be a few new characters)… then she’s still single, looking for love, working as a lawyer, and being her sweet, quirky, in-her-head, emotional self? I’d love. If Ally moves back to town and goes back to work with Cage & Fish (NEED Greg & Peter), still has a friendship with Elaine and/or Renee, with the occasional mention or visit from her daughter (Hayden), then that would be great. wouldn’t want a return to that.)… but if they bring back the right people and don’t retcon the finale I could be on board. One of my favourite shows ever, but they dropped a lot of plots & characters, clearly didn’t know where to go after a certain point, and I don’t agree with some of the more popular opinions about it which I worry could affect a reboot (didn’t like RDJ’s character or that relationship, and I think most people that love it are going off memory and haven’t looked at it recently. Additionally, Hulu is currently home to all five seasons of the show. came on board as a major love interest for Flockhart.Ī network/streamer is not attached to the project, but Hulu would be one logical destination for Ally considering it’s under the same Disney corporate umbrella as the show’s studio, Twentieth Television (which declined to comment for this story). Portia de Rossi and Lucy Liu joined the cast in Season 2. In addition to Flockhart, the OG ensemble included Courtney Thorne-Smith, Greg Germann, Lisa Nicole Carson, Jane Krakowski, Peter MacNicol and Gil Bellows. The series also became known for pushing the kind of sexual boundaries - particularly within the workplace - that would be verboten in the #MeToo era. Ally McBeal became an instant pop culture phenomenon when the quirky legal drama premiered on Fox in 1997, winning the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, landing on the cover of Time magazine, and turning Flockhart into a household name (revisit the pilot’s biggest moments here).
